Fireworks

I love the song Firework by K Perry! When I think of fireworks, I think of things that light up my life---that definitely has to be our kids!

Maple Days

When Jacob was 2 he and I went to Maple Days in Croghan, NY and have not been able to go since. Laurie and I took the kids last year to Maple Days on Fort Drum. This past Saturday Jake was not feeling very well and we weren't able to go to Croghan with the Sweets, he was so sad. Fortunately, he felt much better on Sunday and we decided to make the trek. We had a huge breakfast of pancakes and sausage at the Maple Museum then we visited 2 sugar shacks! It is so fascinating to me how the whole process works to make just 1 gallon of maple syrup! Did you know it could take about 45 buckets of sap to make just 1 gallon? We definitely purchased some to take home and eat on our pancakes! It was cold, but such a great family day!

Girlfriends

I am so lucky to have the best girlfriends up here! We have a great time together! There is never any stress, negativity, cat fights, etc...we just have a great time and all get along so well! Cheers to great friends!

Joe's

It seems to be a tradition when all of our friends get together that eventually we end up at this little tavern called Joe's. It's a great spot to have a few cheap beers and play some shuffle board! We love it!

SAKE anyone?

On Saturday night all of our friends got together to celebrate Lee being home! We went out to Ruyi-a Japanese hibachi restaurant and then to Joe's (a local dive) and then to Maggie's to dance for a change of scenery! We had an absolute blast! My husband, who rarely ever has a drink, decided to let the past year of deployment all out! He had a few beers and some sake bombs (after he decided we all needed to do some shots) and felt pretty good the rest of the night! I am so glad he got to have some fun, he deserved it!

More Pics from the Party

Party Time!!

Jacob has been waiting, what seems like forever, to finally celebrate his hockey-themed birthday with his friends! Lee made it home safely and we were ready to party! Jacob had his 5th birthday celebration at one of the YMCA buildings in Watertown with 6 of his good friends. Everyone had a blast!

My Little Mommy

While Lindsey loves playing with Jacob and his trucks, hockey sticks, etc. etc., she loves playing with her baby too! She takes her for walks, tries to dress her, feed her, etc. It is soo cute!

Let's Ride

Lindsey wants to do everything Jake does, even ride a bike! Good thing her Dad is home to take her for a ride, she loved it!! We can't wait to ride bikes this summer!

Start Your Engines

We get so excited when it is sunny out and gets in to the upper 30s/40s! Last week we charged up the little quad that was Jake's for Lindsey and then they took a ride in Jacob's car! I love being able to get outside!

A Lucky Foot?

Do you remember when it was popular to carry around a lucky rabbit's foot? Do you think turkey vulture's have lucky feet? Actually, we aren't sure what kind of bird this is from, but Lee and Jacob found it in our yard during their spring clean-up last week! Gross!!

The Week in Review

I have been so caught up in having family time, that I am forgetting to post! Therefore, this will be like a weekly magazine, the week in review! I will try to get better about posting more frequently again.

Pretty in Pink

Lindsey is blessed, no doubt about that, and she has a few special people in her life that buy her the most adorable outfits! I recently have been putting dresses on her like crazy and I love them! Today she wore this adorable pink dress from Aunt L and the best part of the outfit---the leg warmers!

The Gold Medal

On Saturday, Jacob's friend Annabelle competed in a figure skating tournament. She took home 2 silver medals! Jake was super excited for her but asked why he doesn't get trophies or medals. So one came the talk about team sports, indiv sports, etc etc. After practice, the kids had a pizza party and were given certificates from the coach. One was a certificate of achievement, one was a hockey card personalized from the coach, and the last was (drum rolllll)--a GOLD MEDAL! I wish I could have captured the look on his face, it is so difficult to explain, other than true joy, it was priceless!

Team Spirit

Here is a shot of most of the kids Jake has been playing hockey with. He is the youngest but has so much determination and heart!

Little Penguin

My Little Penguin! I couldn't be more proud of Jacob and how far he has come learning to play hockey! We have never pushed him to do this sport, but he absolutely loves it, so now we are in for the long haul! He puts in 110% and we couldn't have asked for more! Sunday was his last practice this season. The coach told us he is a natural, with natural ability and instinct, and that he will be a great hockey player! He is our champion!
