The Tube

One of my favorite things in fall are the new TV shows. I am by no means a TV Junkie, but I do like a few shows.
Sunday--The Amazing Race--and yes, someday I still swear I am going to be on that show!
Monday-Laurie got me in to The Event--I really miss 24 but this is slowly taking its place, kind of weird though!
Tuesdays- I love Glee--thanks to Laurie and Ann for getting me in to that one!
Wed-I love Modern Family, I love love love it and I LMAO!
Thurs--still love my Gray's Anatomy

I think those are definitely my favorites for now. I love a few reality trashy ones too but the above ones are my absolute favs!

Which shows do you like?

Feelings

Today Jacob got some new books I ordered from Scholastic. I can't believe that program still exists, I remember getting so excited when I got a new order form to bring home when I was in elementary school. So, tonight we read a few books and one was about "feelings". Mrs Puccia, his teacher, told us to be sure we ask questions after we read books to work on comprehension. I try and remember to do that each night and tonight was a bit interesting. We talked about different feelings he has and what makes him feel that way.

Here were his answers:

Happy--when I went to the beach, got a new bed and went on a sailboat (he got a new bed when he was 2 and never has been on a sailboat, but he can wish)
Sad--when my Dad goes to Afghanistan (I knew that one was coming)
Excited--to have a new baby (well, maybe 1 year ago but there is no new baby in this house)--then he said-to see my Dad
Jealous-when Seth stole my girlfriend Jade at school (cracked me up)
He said--"I don't care if Jade is his girlfriend, it doesn't matter to me because I have 2 girlfriends!"

I love our bedtime books and snuggles!

Camping at the Sweets

Enjoying Fall Days

We got a bit of outdoors time this past weekend with my parents. I didn't take as many pictures as I would have liked but I took a few.

Camping Out...or In

This past weekend my parents came to visit and we had a full weekend of activities. They watched the kids for me on Friday while I was in Syracuse at the Doctor and then we headed to the Charltons for a delish dinner!
On Saturday my Dad went golfing with 3 friends from up here with passes I won in an auction. They played 18 holes, maybe next year Jen and I will be ready for 18!
Saturday night the Sweets had us for dinner. All summer long Jake asked me when we were going to camp out. He wants to go camping, sleep in a tent, have smores, etc etc. Well, after talking with the Sweets, Zeke agreed to pitch their tent in their yard and camp out with Jake and Annabelle. Jacob was so excited. I decided to spend the night for his first sleepover/camp out and I am glad I did.
We all had a great time. My parents took Lindsey home and got a very peaceful night sleep. Annabelle and Jake were having a great time playing outside in the dark with glow sticks, they roasted their own hotdogs over the fire, and made smores and told stories by the fire! When it was time to go to sleep in the tent, Jacob had no intention of sleeping in it. He lasted for 1 hour which I was very proud of him for. I am sure if I were sleeping in there or Lee he would have stayed all night, but without us he was a little bit unsure. Something for him to look forward to next summer with his Dad but I am proud of him for trying! We still had a super fun night, even if it meant him snuggling with me on the air mattress!

My Anywhere Chair

Aunt Laurie has done it again. When Jake was 2 years old Aunt Laurie bought him his own chair and he loved it. Till this day he still does, but now he has a bigger version of that one. My son, the hoarder, didn't want to get rid of the old one, unlike his mom the "throw it away" lady. So, much to my disliking, I kept it upstairs. Well, it was a good thing I did, because now it is Lindsey's chair. Yesterday, Aunt Laurie made it official by getting her a cover that had her name on it. Jake had to put it right next to his of course and really, they are so cute together. They both absolutely love them! Mind you, Lindsey doesn't sit longer than 3 minutes, but now she has her own little chair! Thanks Aunt Laurie!

Rip it up!!!

I know this is not the correct thing to teach Lindsey, but one night this past week Jacob and I were working on some preschool workbooks and I needed to keep her busy. I grabbed an old magazine and let her go to town. She ripped and ripped for about 30mins. She doesn't even put it in her mouth, she just enjoys ripping. It must be a stress relief for her and I don't blame her, I would be mad about those darn ear infections too!

Where did it go?

Where did the last week and a half go? I am not sure, somewhere between enjoying the outdoors, festivals, parties, and lack of sleep the last week and a half flew by. I guess it is a good thing, only 4 weeks till Lee comes home!! Lindsey is still fighting a horrible ear infection, I think tubes are in her near future.
We have done so many fun things this fall and there is still more to come! The Black River Fall Festival, the Cream Cheese Festival, Cider Mill (at least 2x a week), playing outside on these great warm fall nights, and finding fun things to do inside on those rainy fall days. I am really enjoying September.
Last Sunday, I had a chance to see all our good Watertown friends at Sophia's 7th birthday. Here are some pictures I took.

A few more pictures from Velocity! The boys were so busy I could barely get them to pause for a picture!

Weekend Update

This past weekend was a blast, well, except for Lindsey. She is fighting another double ear infection, a pretty severe one this time! I wish I could just make all those teeth pop through!
I thought some distraction would help her out. So, on Saturday I took the kids to the Black River Fall Fest downtown. There was an classic car show, vendors, food, etc. On Saturday night I joined all our friends to celebrate Roland's birthday--it was a blast. Sometimes I realy don't like being without Lee but our friends always make me feel part of the crowd and I had a great time! Sunday was a dreary day so Jen and I took the kids to Velocity. It isn't the best play place but it is good enough to get the kids out of the house and let them run! Leah and Lindsey had a ton of fun too! Lindsey has no fear and wanted to follow the big kids wherever they went! She is still fighting the infection and seems to feel better all except for sleeping at night.

1st Day Treat

After picking Jake up from his first day of school I took him and Lindsey for a special treat. One of Jacob's favorite places and a first for Lindsey. The Cider Mill!! We are so lucky that we could walk to it from our house! Lindsey was fascinated by the waterfalls and of course loved having a piece of a donut! Jake ate his in a flash! I bet Lee can't wait to walk up there when he gets home! Perfect timing on his part, planning to come home in October!

Where I left off.........

So I haven't posted anything since Jake's first day and I need to play catch-up! First off---the boys! This year Pre-K is 3x a week and Monday and Wednesdays I also pick up Seth from school and take him to his sitter. I love those days--picking up both of them and talking about school. They are so excited to be in the same class this year and I am excited for them. I took this picture on their first day, you can see how happy they were to see each other!

1st Day of Preschool

Jacob started his first day of preschool today. Back to the grind; getting up early and out the door. It wasn't too bad, getting Lindsey on a new eating and morning sleep schedule will be a bit of a change for her but we will be fine! Jacob woke up at 620 and said, "I am so excited for school, can we go right now?" He had a great day and told everyone that called that his buddy Seth was in his class, he is so excited for that! I can't wait to start hanging all of his new projects up on the wall!

Labor Day

I didn't take any pictures of Jake in the pool on Labor Day and I wish I had. He totally reminded me of myself as a kid. It didn't matter to me if there was anyone in the pool or how cold it was outside, I was going swimming. Jacob was the same way, but after about an hour he couldn't stand the chills anymore so he called it quits! It was great to get in one last outdoor swim this summer and yummy cook-out food!

More Knobels Pictures

Lindsey spent the day at Nana's while we took the boys to Knobels!

Knobels Pictures

Ahhhh..those summer nights!!

Labor Day weekend was our last chance to soak up some sun, swim, cookout, have smores, go to an Amusement Park, and have a long weekend at home for a little while. We had all those things to do and we didn't skip a thing! Last Wed we headed to PA for a long weekend. On Thursday, I went to the outlets for some much needed fall/winter clothes for the kiddos! Thanks to my family for watching the kids! Thursday and Friday were both very warm so the kids got to swim in the Miller's in-ground pool. Jake loves to swim now that he knows how and Lindsey loves the pool so much she cries when we take her out! On Saturday my sister Becky came with her friend Stacey. That night we cooked-out and had a smores! On Sunday we went to Knobels Amusement Park with Donna and Sam, and Aunt Becky. My parents kept Lindsey at home, she isn't quite ready to ride rides yet. The boys had a blast and had endless energy! I do hope someday we get to take Lindsey to Knobels! On Labor Day we went to my parents friends for a cook out. Jake swam in the chilly water, just like I used to, and Lindsey crawled around. It was a great weekend to end the summer!
