A Perfect Day

Although it was a little cooler on Friday, that didn't stop us from doing what we planned. I decided to take the kids to Sackets Harbor. We packed a picnic lunch and ate it on the battlefield. Jacob was so interested in the battlefield and its' history. I was more than happy to tell him. After we ate, we decided to fly kites. It was quiet windy and the perfect day to do it! Lindsey loved it too, especially since it was a Mickey Mouse kite. She kept looking up and clapping! Afterwards we made a trek to the marina to feed the ducks. Jacob loves to feed them and Lindsey loves to watch them! Then we walked back to the car but not before Jacob asked if we could walk the battlefield. I was so impressed by his eagerness to learn, even though he asked at least 100 questions! So, we walked the battlefield and he wanted me to read each sign describing the battle. As we neared the end, we saw 3 soldiers dressed in uniform. They gave us a performance with their muskets then talked to Jacob and took some pictures with him. He was thrilled and asked about 100 more questions on the way home until he conked out! We were there for 3 hours but it really was a perfect day!
